Fine Structure of the Cervical Lymph Node of the Suncus Murinus

Abstract
Parenchymal regions of cervical lymph node from Suncus murinus have been examined with electron microscope. The cortex revealed a preponderance of tightly packed lymphocytes and a lesser number of reticular cells and macrophages. The medulla consisted of tightly packed cells. These were mainly plasma cells. Reticular cells and lymphocytes were also found. The lymphoblast and medium and small lymphocytes were primarily identified by cell and nuclear size and shape, as well as by the relatively dense and uniform chrom atin distribution. The lymphatic capillaries possessed morphological structures which differentiated them from the blood capillaries. The absence of a definitive basement membranes were observed. Two types of phagocytic inclusions in cytoplasm of macrophages were observed. The adrenergic and cholinergic fibers were observed in adventitial layer of arterioles.
